In our latest associate case study, we talk to Dimitris Fanis to find out more about his La Fosse Academy experience.
What were you doing before joining La Fosse Academy?
I was a data scientist trainee.
What made you join La Fosse Academy?
I wanted to explore, learn, and practice web development tools as well as all other technologies covered in the curriculum.
How would you describe your journey at La Fosse Academy so far?
It's been great. I had the opportunity to join and complete the programme, meet some very good teachers and colleagues, and now I'm undertaking a placement at a job I really like.
What is the biggest takeaway from your time with La Fosse Academy?
Knowing how to search for something in the tech sector is a very important skill in itself.
What did you like about the curriculum?
The fact it covered various topics, from back-end to front-end, and from databases to containerising the apps we were building. We also applied what we were learning in practical projects, and this was very useful.
How has La Fosse Academy impacted your career?
So far, I'm approaching the end of my first half year in the data science and technology department of News Corp and it's been great. I'm really excited to continue working on my current projects and discover new ones.
How has the community, benefits, and support provided by La Fosse Academy enhanced your tech career?
The support from my engagement manager has been great during our monthly meetings. I also plan to use part of the training budget for undertaking an online course/specialisation if this aligns with my line manager at my placement's company.
